Australian internet shoppers have been ranked fifth in online spending by US researchers Angus Reid Group.They found that 14% of Australians had bought via the net.The report also found that 50% had gathered information about products or services over the internet.

Research company IDC projects users buying from the web will grow from 12.6% in 1997 to 40.2% by the end of 2002.Net spending is expected to increase by more than 300% by the same time as confidence in e-commerce and secure transactions increases

60% of Australian net buyers surveyed earned $60,000 or more,they are according to officials at APT Strategies"cash rich time poor"looking for ways to reduce the time taken up buying in stores.
